AL VALDEZ, Ph.D.
Al Valdez, Ph.D. recently retired as the supervisor of the Gang Unit for the Orange County (California) District Attorney’s office. He has over 27 years law enforcement experience with special emphasis on narcotic and gang investigations, undercover field operations, multi-agency task forces, and prosecutions.
He is a nationally recognized expert and consultant in the areas of youth violence, gang sociology and behaviors, gang investigations and prosecutions, parent/teacher awareness issues, prevention/intervention models and occult/ritual crimes. Al has appeared on CNN and Geraldo. He is on staff at several local community colleges where he designs and teaches advance officer/supervisor training programs. Al is also a consultant to the California and U.S. Department of Justice, as well as the U.S. Military and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Al has written over 85 articles and 4 books on gang histories, customs and practices, and related issues. He also authored the gang monograph for the California Attorney General’s office.
Al holds two Bachelor of Science degrees, in Biology and Chemistry, a Master’s degree in Law and Criminal Justice and his Ph.D. in Psychology. |
